Conclusion

Book Conclusion

There is talk of some vehicles being more suitable for conversion than others.  Some say that direct injection motors can pose some problems, and that Lucas injector pumps don’t hold up as well as others, while Bosch and Nippon seem to be the best.

If you do happen to have one of those vehicles with an old Lucas injector pump, you might consider upgrading your vehicle.  Your savings in fuel costs would more than adequately cover this additional cost when you consider my saving of $3000 per annum.  If  you have to replace an expensive component such as an alternator or injection pump from time to time, you are likely to still be well ahead.

From my research of conversions that have failed, many were using very old motors, most were not monitoring fuel temperatures, there was never discussion about water suspended in the oil, and some weren’t even heating the oil!

It is of vital importance that your sump oil be changed every 5000km or earlier as the vegetable oil changes the qualities of the motor oil and irregular servicing may cause engine failure.

Overall, my research and experience has found that by running on a good clean water free liquid waste vegetable oil, heated to over 70°c, combined with monitoring the performance of your conversion, regular particulate filter replacement and proper servicing, your vehicle should operate efficiently and effectively for many years without long term damage.

My vehicles operate better on vegetable oil fuel than on diesel, with noticeably less soot from the exhaust.
